In recent days, the Taliban have openly violated women’s human rights by arresting women en masse in degrading ways and placing them in their horrific detention camps.
These acts of the Taliban are contrary to the principles and values of human rights, Islam and the national customs of the Afghan people. In our society, such acts are perceived as the ultimate disregard for humanity and families. With these acts, the Taliban show that they are alien to our human values, Islamic principles and national customs.
– The imprisonment of a group of women under the pretext of hijab is an example of a crime against humanity. The Human Rights Defenders Plus Organization (HRD+) calls for an immediate end to these inhumane acts and warns that the continuation of such inhumane, un-Islamic and non-national acts will lead to a cycle of violence, with the Taliban as the main cause.
-HRD+ also calls on religious scholars, intellectuals, leaders of ethnic groups and influential political and social figures to respond and not allow these heinous acts to become the norm.
HRD+ continues to call on the international community, in particular the International Criminal Court (ICC), to take action as soon as possible. In particular, it calls on António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, to intervene and put pressure on the Taliban.
HRD+ calls on human rights defenders, civil organizations and the media to work together in documenting these crimes against humanity and bringing justice for the victims. In this context, HRD+ declares its willingness to cooperate and collaborate with human rights institutions to document and report these crimes and to file complaints on behalf of the victims.
In the hope of respect for human dignity in Afghanistan
